ABOUT
Andrea Musa is a Croatian visual artist and her body of work includes painting, installations, photography and writing. Her work draws on the human experience, concepts of time and space and is inspired by her observation of a constantly moving material world, philosophy and her relationship to nature. Musa is interested in focusing on the senses, the perceptive aspects of Time in a natural environment and the different temporalities characterizing the natural systems.
Andrea Musa, born in Frankfurt/M, Germany, graduated painting at the Assenza Academy in Basel, Switzerland and received her Master’s in Law at the University of Split, Croatia. She is a recipient of several awards including first-place awards for graphic design and visual communications, First prize for painting awarded by the Croatian Olympic Committee /Olympic Sports and Art Contest/ on the occasion of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, “14th Public and Private Painting Award”, “Iva Vranekovic Painting Award” at the 4th Biennial of Painting, Zagreb. Musa represented the Republic of Croatia at the United Nations in New York and at the Jordan Festival in Amman. She was an Artist-in- Residence at the Centre International des Récollets and Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. Her work was displayed at numerous solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries internationally, including Hong Kong Walls Art Fair / Superfine Art Fair Los Angeles / Museum of Fine Arts Split / Island Arts Centre Lisburn, Northern Ireland / Mestrovic Pavilion Zagreb / National Museum Zadar / Foresight Gallery, Amman, Jordan / The Xanthi Municipal Museum Greece / Cultural Multimedia Centre Cilaos, Reunion, France. From 2003 until 2009 Musa worked on various projects focusing on themes of intercultural dialogue, as a member and one of the founders of the international artistic group called Connecting-Art, a joint platform including artists from France, Greece, Northern Ireland, USA, Jordan, Senegal, Egypt, Brazil and Croatia. She is a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists and Croatian Freelance Artists' Association. Her work is held in public and private collections in Europe, Middle East, North America and Australia. She lives and works in Split, Croatia.
